The owners of Rice Bowl acquired their first restaurant, Rice Bowl I, in the summer of 1998. Rice Bowl I continues to specialize in Chinese food.

Rice Bowl II, which opened in late 2003, specializes in Chinese food as well as authentic Indonesian cuisine. The owners of Rice Bowl have learned their craft and styles of Indonesian culinary cuisine in the small town of Bogor, Indonesia. Their cuisine has been featured in the Houston Chronicle and the Houston Press.
